21.7.23

Year 5, Another year over! It seems like only a few weeks ago I was welcoming you into the classroom but the time has come for you to become Year 6. This week you have finished writing narratives which show how far you have come. You have looked forward in PSHE and have created river courses in geography, and of course you watched the Y6s beat the teachers in rounders (we’ll see you for the rematch next year!) Myself and Mrs Onley wanted to thank you and your adults for the kind messages and gifts we have received, and to wish you all the best for the coming year (don’t forget to come and say hello). Have a restful break and enjoy whatever you are doing over the summer. See you in September. Best wishes, Mrs Cresswell

Year 5, This week has had plenty to keep you busy. You have begun writing your narratives inspired by the witches of Macbeth (what I have read so far is great!) In maths, you have drawn and interpreted line graphs, and this continued into computing when you input data and produced line graphs. You then interpreted these in science as they were based on the growth of a foetus. In science, you also considered changes that happen throughout a human’s life cycle. On Thursday, you had the opportunity to spend some time in Year 6 and today you were treated to a special assembly with our school pianists performing. You have also begun sharing your projects on rivers, which are proving to be very informative.   Next week is our final week together in Year 5. We will remain on timetable for much of the week. In maths, you will study 3D shapes and in English you will finish writing your narratives. In geography, you will study the courses of rivers and their features and you will...

Year 5, This week you have worked hard and been mature when necessary. In English, you have planned a narrative inspired by Macbeth, and in maths you have solved problems using the four operations. Our afternoons have been spent learning about male and female body changes through puberty, and how this enables potential conception. We also learnt about different families and how they may or may not have a child. In geography, you recapped the water cycle, producing an artistic diagram using the tools you thought were most appropriate for the task. This week you have also harvested, cooked and eaten the potatoes that we have been growing to learn about asexual reproduction in plants, and you participated in a circus skills workshop which you all seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Next week, you will begin writing your narrative in English. In maths, you will be drawing and interpreting graphs, and this will continue into computing. In science you will consider the human life cycle, and...
