Week ending 1st December 2023

 Hello Year Four,

The children had some great lessons in my absence. They continued to work on multiplication and division in maths. The tables test today was a huge success as many children have now learned up to 12 now and are currently having mixed questions. All the children are working hard to master the tables and should be very proud of their progress.

For English the children learned about singular and plural spellings and possessive s, using an apostrophe.

They were able to complete their adventure stories and write dramatic endings!

The focus in science was the human ear, as we are learning about sound.

For Spanish they are learning to ask when it is someone's birthday and to state their own birth dates.

For the ICT lesson this week the children learned the process of writing an email. We will continue to work on this next week.

NEXT WEEK

Maths

Next week we will complete our multiplication and division block. There will be an end of block assessment and the children will bring home the booklets for revision of this focus.

We will be moving on to finding factors.

English

The English focus will be using paragraphs, understanding when, why and where to break for a new paragraph.

We will also be beginning to explore report writing.

The children will have a comprehension lesson related to the book 'Stig of the Dump' by Clive King, which we are currently reading in class.

Science

We will continue to investigate sound and recognise how different sounds are produced. We will be recording the volume of sounds and will  create a bar chart plotting the sound data we collect.

ICT

The children will be writing and sending emails with attachments.

RE

We will continue to explore and understand The Holy Trinity.

Spanish

The children will continue to practise asking when someone has a birthday and responding to the same question.

D and T

As we look at different recipes and flavours we are getting closer to designing and making our vegetable/lentil soup.
