Happy Friday all,

I hope you all had a lovely break. I cannot believe we are now in our last term of Year 5 - time flies when you're having fun.

We have an exciting week coming up in Year 5, and I wanted to share a few important reminders and updates with you.

From next week, the children will begin their swimming lessons during school time. These will take place daily, so it’s really important that your child brings their full swimming kit to school every day. Here’s a quick checklist of what they’ll need:

  • Swimming costume

  • Swimming hat – this is mandatory. Fabric hats are often easier for children to manage, but the choice is yours.

  • Goggles – optional

  • Towel

  • Pool shoes – for walking between the changing room and pool

  • Bath robe or dressing gown – optional, but recommended for warmth

  • A bag to store wet swimwear

Please make sure everything is clearly labelled so we can avoid any lost property.

Also starting next week is Bikeability! This is a brilliant opportunity for the children to develop their road safety and cycling skills. If your child is taking part, they can leave their bikes at school overnight for the duration of the week. We’ll ensure they’re stored safely on site.

Home Learning Project

Our home-learning project this half term is a personal diary as we are learning about the story of Anne Frank and her diary in English. I’ve asked the children to try to write in their diary most days. This is a more personal project than usual, so it won’t be shared with the class unless your child chooses to. If they’d like to bring their diary in to show or tell us about it, we’ll be having a sharing opportunity during the week commencing Monday 19th May.

As always, please ensure your child is completing their regular home learning:

  • At least 1 hour of Sumdog per week

  • 10 minutes of reading aloud each day

Thank you, as always, for your continued support
