Happy Friday all! 

We’ve had another fantastic week in Year 5, and as we look ahead to next week, there are a few exciting things we have coming up.

Sports Day – Thursday 20th June
Sports Day is coming up next Thursday! The children are really looking forward to a fun and active day. Please make sure your child comes to school with their full PE kit, including suitable footwear, and a named water bottle to stay hydrated. Fingers crossed for good weather – but we’ll be ready come rain or shine!

PSHE: ‘Changing Me’ Topic
From next week, we will begin our Year 5 PSHE topic: Changing Me. I understand you have all received a letter from Miss Y Davis last week outlining the content of these lessons. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the topic further, please don’t hesitate to email me directly.

 Year 5 Project – Create a Quiz!

As part of our end-of-year reflection, the children have been asked to create a Kahoot or another online quiz based on what we’ve learnt this year. The quiz should be a maximum of 15 questions. We’re looking forward to seeing how creative and clever the quizzes will be!

We have had a great day despite the rain. The children have enjoyed learning about life in Britain during WWII. We are also celebrating a birthday today which is very exciting. Now we are off to soft play - see you all tomorrow.  Just a reminder, we will send a text when we are on our way back. When we arrive back you are able to pick your child up before the school day finishes.

We are very excited to be back at school and have already had a brilliant first two days in Year 5. Everyone has settled in really well, and it feels like we are ready for a fantastic year of learning and fun together. This half term we have a busy timetable, and here are some important things to remember: PE Timetable for Autumn 1 Monday: Football Wednesday: Swimming (this will begin on 17th September 2025 ) Thursday: A short 30-minute PE session – trainers only are needed Please make sure you have the correct PE kit and are ready for each lesson. Homework CGP Books (Maths and English): One piece per week, alternating between the two subjects. I will specify on the blog which topic will be covered and when it is due in.  Reading 5 x 10-minute sessions a week aloud to an adult.
