Half-Term Project – Due Monday 15th December

Project Title: Exploring Space

Last half term, we learned all about space in Science. For this project, I would like you to explore an area of space that interests you. Your final piece could be a PowerPoint, a written project (typed or handwritten), or even a model or sculpture. It should show the research and effort you’ve put in over the weeks.

You might choose to research:

The moon landing

The possibility of life on other planets

Black holes, meteors, or other space phenomena

Constellations

You might choose to create:

A model of a planet

A space-themed game

A story set in space

A written project on a space feature.



Regular Homework Expectations

CGP Books (Maths & English): One task per week, alternating subjects. I will specify each week which page is due.

Reading: Five sessions of 10 minutes per week, aloud to an adult. Please record each session in the reading record.

Spellings: Weekly spellings and Monday tests. Spellings will be posted on the blog every Monday.

Sumdog: Recommended 3 sessions of 20 minutes per week for extra maths practice.

We have had a great day despite the rain. The children have enjoyed learning about life in Britain during WWII. We are also celebrating a birthday today which is very exciting. Now we are off to soft play - see you all tomorrow.  Just a reminder, we will send a text when we are on our way back. As you can see we are having great time at Lincolnsfield. We have had lots of fun, all eaten lots at dinner and enjoyed our evening around the campfire.  I will update the blog tomorrow with some more pictures.

We are very excited to be back at school and have already had a brilliant first two days in Year 5. Everyone has settled in really well, and it feels like we are ready for a fantastic year of learning and fun together. This half term we have a busy timetable, and here are some important things to remember: PE Timetable for Autumn 1 Monday: Football Wednesday: Swimming (this will begin on 17th September 2025 ) Thursday: A short 30-minute PE session – trainers only are needed Please make sure you have the correct PE kit and are ready for each lesson. Homework CGP Books (Maths and English): One piece per week, alternating between the two subjects. I will specify on the blog which topic will be covered and when it is due in.  Reading 5 x 10-minute sessions a week aloud to an adult.
