 Happy Friday all! 


Homework this week is to take part in the UK wide Sumdog competition and practice the Carol Service Songs https://youtu.be/nDJnKD-0iDw which is taking place on Monday 15th December. The Carol Service starts at 7pm; Please can the children arrive at 6:45pm. 

Next Friday school finishes at 1:15pm.


Your space theme half termly project is due in for Monday also!

PE Timetable for Autumn 2

Monday: PE 1 hour (full kit)

Wednesday: PE 1 hour (full kit)

Thursday: A short 30-minute PE session – trainers only are needed

Please make sure you have the correct PE kit and are ready for each lesson.


Half term project - Due Monday 15th December 

 Your project for this half term – Exploring Space 

As you know, last half term we were studying space in Science. I would like you to study some of the areas of space that you have an interest in. Your learning outcome could be a PowerPoint, a Word processed or handwritten project, a model or sculpture. This should demonstrate the research you have put in over the weeks before the deadline of when you will share your learning with the class.  

You could study (but are not restricted to): 

  • The moon landing
  • Could there be life on other planets?
  • Black holes, meteors and other space features
  • Constellations of stars

You could create (but are not restricted to):

-        A model of a planet

-        A game themed around space

-        A story based in space

-        A written project on space features


Homework

CGP Books (Maths and English): One piece per week, alternating between the two subjects. I will specify on the blog which topic will be covered and when it is due in. 

Reading 5 x 10-minute sessions a week aloud to an adult. Please record this in your reading record. 

Spellings: Weekly spelling practice and tests. Spelling tests are Mondays. The spellings will be available on the blog each Monday for the children to learn them at home over the week. 

Sumdog: Online maths practice to help us improve our skills. 3 x 20-minute sessions a week recommended.

We have had a great day despite the rain. The children have enjoyed learning about life in Britain during WWII. We are also celebrating a birthday today which is very exciting. Now we are off to soft play - see you all tomorrow.  Just a reminder, we will send a text when we are on our way back. When we arrive back you are able to pick your child up before the school day finishes.

As you can see we are having great time at Lincolnsfield. We have had lots of fun, all eaten lots at dinner and enjoyed our evening around the campfire.  I will update the blog tomorrow with some more pictures.

We are very excited to be back at school and have already had a brilliant first two days in Year 5. Everyone has settled in really well, and it feels like we are ready for a fantastic year of learning and fun together.
