Happy Friday all - just one more week to go. Time really does fly and it's mind-blowing to consider we are two-thirds of the way though Year 5. 

This week has been full of excitement as we continue preparing for our upcoming production of Robin & The Sherwood Hoodies! The children have been working incredibly hard to learn their lines, songs and dances, and we are really looking forward to sharing it with you.

Our performances will take place on:

  • Wednesday, 1:30pm

  • Thursday, 6:30pm

I do expect all children to be in attendance for both performances. If your child is unable to attend, please let me know as soon as possible so we can make any necessary arrangements.

We would also love to invite you to our Open Afternoon next Wednesday at 3:00pm, where you will have the opportunity to come into the classroom and share your child’s learning with them.

As we approach the end of term, please also note that school will finish at 1:15pm next Friday.


Quiz Night Saturday 9th May

Get your thinking caps ready for our PTA Quiz Night on Saturday 9th May 2026! It promises to be a fantastic evening of fun, laughter and a little bit of healthy rivalry. I will be taking on the very important role of Quiz Master. It would be brilliant to see as many of you there as possible—whether you're in it to win it or just in it for the laughs!

We have had a great day despite the rain. The children have enjoyed learning about life in Britain during WWII. We are also celebrating a birthday today which is very exciting. Now we are off to soft play - see you all tomorrow.  Just a reminder, we will send a text when we are on our way back. We are very excited to be back at school and have already had a brilliant first two days in Year 5. Everyone has settled in really well, and it feels like we are ready for a fantastic year of learning and fun together. This half term we have a busy timetable, and here are some important things to remember: PE Timetable for Autumn 1 Monday: Football Wednesday: Swimming (this will begin on 17th September 2025 ) Thursday: A short 30-minute PE session – trainers only are needed Please make sure you have the correct PE kit and are ready for each lesson. Homework CGP Books (Maths and English): One piece per week, alternating between the two subjects. I will specify on the blog which topic will be covered and when it is due in.  Reading 5 x 10-minute sessions a week aloud to an adult.  Happy Friday all,  Well done to all who took part in Sports Day! It was a success and congratulations to Grangewood in winning the Sports Day trophy.  Next week Year 5 Trip to Stanborough Park –  Friday 27th June 2025 We’re so excited for our upcoming adventure at Stanborough Park Water Sports Centre ! This promises to be a fantastic day full of fun, learning and outdoor challenges – but to make the most of it, here are some important things you need to know. Outdoor activities can get wet and muddy – that’s part of the fun! Please come prepared with the following: Clothing: Old trainers, wet shoes or crocs (they may get wet – no sandals or flip flops please!)
