20.7.22 Year 5

  Year 5, What a year! You have been absolute stars this year with how outgoing, hardworking and fun you are. You have been a joy to teach and I really look forward to seeing you enjoy all that comes with Year 6. All of the Year 5 team wish to say a massive thank you for our goodies – we are going to thoroughly enjoy them over the summer. Wishing you a safe and enjoyable break and I look forward to seeing you arrive as the oldest class of the school!! Best wishes, Miss H Huntley   😊

 Year 5, You have completed lots of learning this week. In Maths you have worked on creating and interpreting graphs using a range of data. In English, you have planned and begun writing a short story based on a witch from Macbeth. In geography, you spent Monday learning all about rivers and then creating a detailed double-page spread covering the topics. PSHE has focussed on developing self-esteem and looking toward next year. You have had the opportunity to spend time with Mr Gradwell this week as a part of Transition, and you wrote a letter to yourself in this session. Next week is our final week together. We will be finishing your stories in English, learning about Roman Numerals in maths and finishing any other learning that is needed. You will also have the opportunity to share your half term projects and see Year 6’s show, and will get yourselves organised for next year.         Below are your spellings for this week. Please practise those which you got wrong or were not confident with. Please put these into sentences  and submit them on Teams  as well as trying a spelling challenge as this will help you remember them.  Year 5, You have had a week with a range of subjects and activities. You worked on 2D shape in maths and wrote newspaper reports on the murder of King Duncan in English. In science, you presented and interpreted data on the gestation of animals. You also had the opportunity to watch a production of Mary Poppins at Mount Grace school and the pianists in assembly today (well done to you guys!) We all had a great time participating in Year 6’s Apprentice this afternoon and released our butterflies into the wild too. Photograph below as requested: Next week you will be completing a narrative in English based on a picture inspired by Macbeth. In maths you will be working on statistics and in PSHE we will be working on relationships and self-reflection.   Year 5, It has been quite a week. In English you have studied Macbeth and have begun preparing a newspaper report on the murder of King Duncan. In maths you have completed your work on timetables by interpreting and creating school lesson timetables. You considered how seaside holidays have changed over the 20 th and into the 21 st century in history. You have also taken part in a range of PSHE lessons which have focussed on puberty and conception. You were generally mature and asked lots of well-considered questions.   Remember – if you have any questions please ask your parent/guardian or an adult who you trust.   Next week we will be writing newspaper reports and continuing our reading of ‘The eye of the wolf’. In maths, we will learn about 2D shapes, irregular and regular polygons, and applying understanding of rectangles to problem solving.
