Below are your spellings for this week.  Year 5, Well done for this week! You have been extremely busy and managed timetable changes etc. really well. In maths, you identified, estimated and measured angles. In English, you planned a discussion text and wrote the lifecycle of a species of bird of your choosing. In science, you observed the changes in our potato plants and caterpillars (or should I say chrysalis), and understood the reproduction of mammals; researching the different gestation lengths for different species. Mini Police this week was bleep test and pad work to learn about the police annual fitness tests, and in computing you programmed micro:bits into nightlights. You have also researched Andy Warhol and created a piece inspired by emotions linked to a piece of music. Not only all that, but you also had a trip to Herts Young Mariners’ Base where you were kayaking, bell boating, and participating in archery! Next week will be busy too. Lincolnsfields Day 3 - 10.5.24

 What a final day at Lincolnsfields. The children were up, packed and out for breakfast by 9am. They then spent the morning roller skating/blading and playing hockey. Many of them demonstrated fantastic resilience with the amount of time they spent on the floor. They will hopefully sleep well this weekend and then I look forward to seeing them bright and ready on Monday.

 Today was a very busy day with lots of new experiences! After a fairly decent night's sleep, the children were up and out for breakfast at 9am. This was after playing a few games and enjoying balloons as it was one of the children’s birthdays. After breakfast, they participated in 3 Children at War activities. They visited a wartime house and learnt about the different tools, toys and activities in that period. They went into a wartime ‘Digging for Victory’ garden, where they saw an Anderson Shelter and then had the job of putting out an incendiary device which had fallen onto a roof – this required a lot of hard work with a stirrup pump. They also visited a Blitz experience where they learnt about the Blitz from a gentleman who was a child at the time. They learnt about his first hand experiences before then attending a museum on the time. Lincolnsfields 2024 Day 1

 We have had a fun packed first day here at Lincolnsfields. We arrived in glorious sunshine and it continued throughout the day. We began with a quick talk about the safety requirements and expectations and then went straight into an activity. We were orienteering, using maps to get to know the site. The children solved a range of riddles (they were better at this than some of the adults!)  After this, it was lunchtime. We then headed to the woods where we were taken on a walk through them – including some muddy bits. The children then took part in team building challenges in the woodland. They completed ‘The Floor is Lava’ using boards to cross the lava, and ‘The Wind Game’ where they worked together to reach between 2 trees (some were rather a stretch). The children then played Zombies vs Humans and finally returned to the main buildings where they were told their rooms. They then began making their beds – some more successfully than others.  We had dinner, a quick rest...
