MARION:                          “The Merry Men - highly trained professional… (shocked) entertainers! England’s finest performing troupe - available for weddings, birthdays and bar mitzvahs!” What have I done? (Nursie joins Marion) Nursie, I’ve made a terrible mistake!

BILLY:                                  You’ve met our fair Maid Marion

You’ve met our Robin Hood

But now it’s time to meet some folk

Who aren’t so kind and good.

 

King John, he sits on England’s throne

While Richard is away

And with the Sheriff, brings to life

The evil in our play!

 

Cue royal shouting…

NURSIE:                             (Over reacting) What? Sherwood Forest is no place for a young maid to wander alone! Oh, my poor little dumpling! (She grabs Will by the shoulders in panic) She’s probably been attacked! Or ambushed! Or… or…

MARION:                          Kidnapped?

NURSIE:                             (Turning to Marion) That’s right, Marion. (Turning back to Will) Kidnapped! (Realising who it is and turning back to Marion) Marion! Where have you been, you naughty thing? I’ve been worried sick! I need to sit down and decompose myself!

We have had a great day despite the rain. The children have enjoyed learning about life in Britain during WWII. We are also celebrating a birthday today which is very exciting. Now we are off to soft play - see you all tomorrow.  Just a reminder, we will send a text when we are on our way back. We are very excited to be back at school and have already had a brilliant first two days in Year 5. Everyone has settled in really well, and it feels like we are ready for a fantastic year of learning and fun together. This half term we have a busy timetable, and here are some important things to remember: PE Timetable for Autumn 1 Monday: Football Wednesday: Swimming (this will begin on 17th September 2025 ) Thursday: A short 30-minute PE session – trainers only are needed Please make sure you have the correct PE kit and are ready for each lesson. Homework CGP Books (Maths and English): One piece per week, alternating between the two subjects. I will specify on the blog which topic will be covered and when it is due in.  Reading 5 x 10-minute sessions a week aloud to an adult.  Happy Friday all,  Well done to all who took part in Sports Day! It was a success and congratulations to Grangewood in winning the Sports Day trophy.  Next week Year 5 Trip to Stanborough Park –  Friday 27th June 2025 We’re so excited for our upcoming adventure at Stanborough Park Water Sports Centre ! This promises to be a fantastic day full of fun, learning and outdoor challenges – but to make the most of it, here are some important things you need to know. Outdoor activities can get wet and muddy – that’s part of the fun! Please come prepared with the following: Clothing: Old trainers, wet shoes or crocs (they may get wet – no sandals or flip flops please!)
