Happy Friday all, 

This week we have begun our rehearsals for Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies! It's crazy to think our performance is only in 3 weeks. Please make sure you are learning your lines and songs at home. If your child cannot attend any of our performances - please contact me ASAP. 

I am really looking forward to next week as it is Science Week at Little Heath and we will be taking part in a science workshop!

Homework 

CGP Books (Maths and English): TWO pieces per week. Maths - pages 38-39 & Comprehension pages 28-29. Due in for Friday 13th March. 

Reading 5 x 10-minute sessions a week aloud to an adult. Please record this in your reading record. 

Spellings: Weekly spelling practice and tests. Spelling tests are Mondays. The spellings will be available on the blog each Monday for the children to learn them at home over the week. You can also find them below on this blog post. 

Sumdog: Online maths practice to help us improve our skills. 3 x 20-minute sessions a week.

 

Half Termly Project – Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies

Our focus this half term continues to be preparing for our production of Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies. Please support your child in learning their lines, songs and dances so that we are fully prepared for rehearsals and performances.

Performance dates are:

  • Wednesday 25th March (afternoon performance)

  • Thursday 26th March (evening performance)

If your child is unable to attend either performance, please let me know as soon as possible, as this has a significant impact on staging and organisation.

Last month, I posted a blog update about costumes for Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies to give you an idea of the style of clothing each character might wear. Please note that these suggestions are not strict and can be interpreted in your own way - costumes do not need to look exactly the same. Costumes can be made at home or bought, depending on what is easiest for you.

If you are unable to source a costume for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible and we can work together to find an alternative. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Please can we have all costumes in by Monday 16th March 2026 - Thank you for your continued support!

We have had a great day despite the rain. The children have enjoyed learning about life in Britain during WWII. We are also celebrating a birthday today which is very exciting. Now we are off to soft play - see you all tomorrow.  Just a reminder, we will send a text when we are on our way back. We are very excited to be back at school and have already had a brilliant first two days in Year 5. Everyone has settled in really well, and it feels like we are ready for a fantastic year of learning and fun together. This half term we have a busy timetable, and here are some important things to remember: PE Timetable for Autumn 1 Monday: Football Wednesday: Swimming (this will begin on 17th September 2025 ) Thursday: A short 30-minute PE session – trainers only are needed Please make sure you have the correct PE kit and are ready for each lesson.  Happy Friday all,  Well done to all who took part in Sports Day! It was a success and congratulations to Grangewood in winning the Sports Day trophy.  Next week Year 5 Trip to Stanborough Park –  Friday 27th June 2025 We’re so excited for our upcoming adventure at Stanborough Park Water Sports Centre ! This promises to be a fantastic day full of fun, learning and outdoor challenges – but to make the most of it, here are some important things you need to know. Outdoor activities can get wet and muddy – that’s part of the fun! Please come prepared with the following: Clothing: Old trainers, wet shoes or crocs (they may get wet – no sandals or flip flops please!)
