Welcome Year 5!

Hello Year 5! 


I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and enjoyed a well-deserved break! I’m so excited to welcome you all to our new class and I can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow. I’m looking forward to getting to know the children and having a fantastic year together!

Here are a few important bits of information to help us get off to a smooth start:

Reading Records

If your child already has their orange reading record, please bring it into school tomorrow. If they don’t have one, don’t worry — I will issue them with a new one.

Classroom Equipment

There is no need for children to bring their own classroom equipment into school. Everything they need, including stationery and other classroom resources, will be provided by the school.

Please do make sure that water bottles and any other belongings coming into school are clearly named, as this makes it much easier to reunite lost items with their owners.

School Day

  • School starts: 8:40am
  • School finishes: 3:20pm
  • Children should enter through the main school gate.
  • At the end of the day, children will be dismissed from the KS1 playground, which is the same place as last year.

PE Timetable

Our current PE timetable is:

  • Monday: 30-minute PE session — trainers only
  • Wednesday: Swimming 
  • Friday afternoon: 1-hour PE session

Swimming at Furzefield has not started just yet, so until swimming commences, Wednesday will be a PE session in school.

School Uniform

For the moment, we are still wearing the summer uniform. However, children are welcome to wear their winter uniform if they prefer. After half term, all children will move over to the winter uniform.

Lincolnsfield Day 2

What a fantastic second day we have had at Lincolnsfield! Today was our much-anticipated Children at War day. The children spent the day learning about what life was like for children living in Britain during the Second World War. The children were fully engaged throughout the day, asked some excellent questions and showed a real interest in understanding this important period of history. This evening, we had originally planned to enjoy a campfire. However, the weather had other ideas and, with the rain setting in, we decided to give it a miss. Thankfully, Lincolnsfield came to the rescue and the children were treated to another session in the soft play are a instead. To say they were pleased would be an understatement! I must confess that even I had a go and thoroughly enjoyed the Rainbow Drop Slide . I can neither confirm nor deny whether I went down it more than once, but I can confirm that it was great fun! Lincolnsfield Day 2

We have had a great day despite the rain. The children have enjoyed learning about life in Britain during WWII. We are also celebrating a birthday today which is very exciting. Now we are off to soft play - see you all tomorrow.  Just a reminder, we will send a text when we are on our way back. When we arrive back you are able to pick your child up before the school day finishes.
