Thank
you for a great first week back, it has been lovely to spend time with the
children and get to know each other a little more.
Please remember that
the PE timetable has changed to Mondays and Thursdays, with swimming currently
on Wednesdays.
Miss Davis kindly put this week’s spellings
on the blog on Monday, but as a reminder, here they are again:
Spellings (Test 9th November) doubt, lamb, debt, thumb, solemn, autumn, column, knight, knuckle, knot
Homework is pages 21 and 22 for maths (multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000).
In English we have continued our non-chronological reports based on Hidden Figures, the children have engaged well with this topic.
In
maths we have looked at cubed numbers, and continued multiplication and
division.
In science we reviewed some of what the children have been learning
about Earth and Space, and completed a quiz.
For Geography, we began a new topic on the Alps. We looked at a world map
and a map of Europe to see which countries the Alps cover. We spoke about activities which people do in
the Alps and how climate change is starting to affect the snowy
mountain range.
DT: We are learning about building bridges. For our first lesson, we explored ways in which pillars and beams are used to span gaps. Different beam designs were tested using paper and
card.
Have a lovely
weekend, hopefully we'll see many of you at the fireworks!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Baxter-Read and
Mrs. Edwards.
