Firstly, thank you to everyone who attended parents’ consultations. It was lovely to speak to you all and reflect on how much the children have achieved so far this year. As I move on to my new role, I want to say how proud I am of the class and how much I have enjoyed teaching them. I hope they continue to work hard, show kindness and make the most of every opportunity with Mrs Edwards and Mrs Baxter-Read for the rest of the year. I know they will continue to do brilliantly, and I look forward to hearing about all their successes! Although I won’t be their class teacher anymore, I’m only down the corridor, so I’m not going far at all! I’ll still be around if anyone needs anything, and I’m sure I’ll see lots of familiar faces around school. A quick reminder of the new PE timetable: Monday: 1 hour (last lesson of the day) Wednesday: Swimming Thursday: 30-minute PE session Thank you again for all your support. It has been a pleasure being their Year 5 teacher, and I wish the children ...

Happy Friday all! As I was unwell on Monday, we were unable to complete our weekly spelling test. The children will therefore have an extra week to practise their spellings before we complete the test next week. This week's spellings focus on homophones and near-homophones, which are words that sound the same or very similar but have different meanings and, in some cases, different spellings. I will not read the words out in the order they appear on the list, so it is important that the children learn the meaning of each word as well as how to spell it. past passed proceed precede aisle isle aloud allowed affect effect English: Hidden Figures As part of our Space topic and our learning for Black History Month, we have been reading and completing activities based on Hidden Figures. Last week, fewer than one-third of the class reached this target, so please encourage your child to complete their weekly hour. Regular practice on Sumdog will help to reinforce the maths skills we are learning in class. Please also encourage your child to read aloud to you for 10 minutes, 5 days a week, and record this in their orange reading record. Welcome Year 5!

Hello Year 5!  I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and enjoyed a well-deserved break! I’m so excited to welcome you all to our new class and I can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow. I’m looking forward to getting to know the children and having a fantastic year together! Here are a few important bits of information to help us get off to a smooth start: Reading Records If your child already has their orange reading record, please bring it into school tomorrow. If they don’t have one, don’t worry — I will issue them with a new one. Classroom Equipment There is no need for children to bring their own classroom equipment into school. Everything they need, including stationery and other classroom resources, will be provided by the school. Please do make sure that water bottles and any other belongings coming into school are clearly named , as this makes it much easier to reunite lost items with their owners. School Day School starts: 8:40am School finishes: 3:20pm Children should ...

Goodbye Year 5!

As we come to the end of another school year, I just wanted to say one final thank you. Year 5, you have been a very, very special class to me, and it has been a genuine privilege and pleasure to be your teacher. Watching each of you grow in confidence, develop your talents and support one another has been incredibly rewarding. You have made me smile every single day, and I couldn't have asked for a better class. I would also like to say a huge thank you to all of the parents and carers for your kindness and support throughout the year. I am so grateful for the incredibly generous gifts, thoughtful cards and lovely messages. Your kind words truly mean so much to me and are something I will always remember. To my wonderful class, thank you for making this year so special. I will genuinely miss each and every one of you. Although it's time for you to begin your next adventure in Year 6, I know you will all continue to work hard, be kind and make yourselves proud. I wish you eve...

It has been absolutely wonderful to be back in school this week! I have missed you all so much and it has made me incredibly happy to be reunited with the children. Seeing their smiling faces again has been the perfect welcome back, and it has been lovely to catch up with everyone after my unexpected absence. It was also a pleasure to see so many of you at our rearranged parent consultation meetings this week. Thank you for taking the time to come along. I would also like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff who did such a fantastic job covering my class while I was off following my emergency surgery. Your kindness, support and hard work are greatly appreciated. Thank you as well to all of our wonderful families for your patience, understanding and the many kind messages of support I received during my recovery. They really did mean a great deal to me. Next Week Please remember that school will finish at 1:15pm on Wednesday for the end of term. We will be clapping out our ...

Good afternoon all, To say it has been a hot week would be an understatement! As you know, Miss Davis has not been in school this week due to her operation. I just wanted to let you know that she is recovering well, and we hope to see her back at school when she is feeling better. With the temperature returning to a more normal level next week, school will be continuing as usual. However, please ensure your child comes to school with a water bottle and a cap during this warmer weather. We didn't get around to completing our spelling test this week, but below you will find the spellings for next Friday's test. Also, the children's PE sessions will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week, so they will need their PE kits in school on those days.
