Year 5,
Welcome back! We have certainly hit the ground running this
week and the half term will be very much like that. This week we have converted
between units of measure in maths and today you applied this to designing the floorplan
of a house. In English, you began writing instructions on ‘How to turn your
teacher into a…..’ and these were both brilliantly creative and a little concerning
for myself! You have shared a number of your projects this week and any others
will be shared next week. You also researched, sketched and wrote about your
sporting idols in the afternoons. Well done to those of you who auditioned on Monday,
you made it really hard to choose who got which parts. You now have your parts
and scripts so that you can practise ready for the performance at the end of the half term.
Next week we will be working on area in maths – which you
began in your floorplans today. In English you will finish writing and editing
your instructions and we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday. We will begin our
next geography topic of the United Kingdom and this will inform our computing
lesson too. We will also be working on the performance and we are hoping to get
out of bubbles meaning the return of assemblies and clubs.
Project for this
half-term
As I have explained in class, this half term your project is
the performance. Please ensure that you:
-
Learn your lines
-
Learn when you need to say your lines
-
Practise the songs and dances at home (they are
available on YouTube)
-
Organise your outfit based on the information in
the letter you were given
Remember:
- You must be signed up to attend clubs
- You must have your script in school every day
- Swimming is on Wednesday
- Reading – please ensure that you read 5
times a week and record this in your Reading Journal. You MUST have your
reading book and journal in school every day
- Spellings – please practise putting
spellings into sentences. These are set on TEAMs as well as shared on the blog.
- TimesTables Rockstars and SumDog – Please
practise on these as it is crucial that you maintain your learning knowledge –
these games help you to maintain what you have already learnt and maybe learn a
little before we begin in class
