 Year 5,

This week, you have not let the heat stop you! In English, you have learnt the story of Macbeth and considered the roles and attitudes of the characters. You have also learnt ‘The Song of the Witches’ and performed it in front of the class (I was very impressed with the expression and full class participation). In maths, you have converted between fractions, decimals and percentages, and have converted between units of measure. You then applied this along with scaling to solve a Cluedo type problem. In history you considered how leisure and entertainment has changed since the Edwardian era, and how it changed due to World War 2. In science, you created lifecycles of different animals and then compared features of the lifecycles. Our caterpillars are now in their chrysalis, hopefully they will be butterflies next week. You also did very well in Sports Day!

Next week, in English, you will be applying your knowledge of Macbeth to an image. In maths, you will be revising time, tables and timetables.  In computing, you will be finishing inputting and analysing data and in science you will be learning about the impact of an influential scientist. In history, you will continue to learn about changes in leisure and entertainment. Next week, we also have Parent Consultations on Monday morning and Thursday after school, and The Apprentice on Thursday afternoon too.

 Half-term project - River study

 This half term your project is going to focus on a river of your choice. I would like you to be able to teach the groups you present to all about the river. 

You must teach us about:

- location of the river

- human features of the river

- physical features of the river

- flora and fauna around the river

- how the river changes from the beginning (source) to the end (mouth) 

- any interesting things about the river

This project can be share in any format. It could be (but is not limited to) a poster, model with labels, handwritten project, PowerPoint presentation.

 Please hand in your project by Monday 10th July.  

Remember:

-    PE can sometimes move so please ensure your kit is school in every day

-    Reading – please ensure that you read 5 times a week and record this in your Reading Journal. You MUST have your reading book and journal in school every day

-    Spellings – please practise putting spellings into sentences.

-   SumDog – Please practise on this as it is crucial that you maintain your learning knowledge – these games help you to maintain what you have already learnt and maybe learn a little before we begin in class
